24 Hours In Berlin, Germany

Overall Thoughts

Berlin is my most visited city in Europe and for a good reason. In Berlin, you can find high quality entertainment, interesting nightlife, good food, history, nature and everything else you could think of.

Oh and the doner. If you’re not aware, I have a Greek background so you really need to convince me to eat kebab or doner anywhere outside Greece or Cyprus. Berlin is my second favourite place to eat doner. I challenge you to try it for yourself.

This time I only had 24 hours to experience the city and here’s what I have to say:

The Transport

I would describe the Berlin public transport as quite simple to use and understand. You might get a bit confused at the airport but once you ‘escape’ from it, it should make more sense. I have two tips for you when it comes to transport.

  1. If you get confused, go at the information desk once you arrive at the airport and ask for directions.

  2. Download the BVG app on your mobile phone. You can buy most transport tickets from there.

The Safety

I felt relatively safe walking in Berlin at night. Last time I visited, I felt a little bit more unsafe because sometimes you would witness people doing drugs. Of course, it really depends on the location and the time of the day so as always make sure to research before you go.

The Accommodation

For this trip I decided to specifically choose a hotel close to where I had to be the next morning so I had limited choices.

I ended up going for the Titanic Chaussee which was quite central.

Once I walked in the hotel I thought that it looked quite nice and luxurious. The fact that I saw men in their suits in the lobby confirmed my theory.

I have to admit though that I didn’t sleep very well because there was a weird noise in the room that kept me up for the most part of the night. It almost sounded like there was music somewhere outside but it wasn’t clear where it was coming from.

Also, given that they claim to be a luxurious hotel, I didn’t necessarily felt that way in some way or another.

Overall, I had a decent experience but not planning on staying there again.

The Breakfast

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast though! They had lots of breakfast choices of many things you could think of. Fruit, pastries, hot food, bread, coffee, tea, juice!

It was a shame I didn’t have so much time to enjoy it though.
